MinMin - Empowering the Informal Economy

MinMin is a dedicated home delivery platform designed to support the informal economy in Mexico. Developed by Echo Wave Design, MinMin empowers individuals, particularly women and men who cook and sell homemade goods such as cookies, cakes, and hamburgers from their homes. Launched in August 2024, MinMin provides a seamless and user-friendly interface that connects home-based cooks with customers, facilitating online sales and direct home deliveries.

The challenge

In Mexico, many individuals engage in the informal economy by cooking and selling homemade goods from their homes. However, these entrepreneurs often face significant challenges:

  • Limited Online Presence: Home-based sellers have minimal access to online markets, restricting their reach and sales potential.
  • Logistical Difficulties: Managing orders and deliveries manually is time-consuming and prone to errors.
  • Trust and Credibility: Building trust with customers in the informal economy is challenging due to the lack of a centralized and reliable platform.
  • User Experience: Creating an intuitive and easy-to-use platform that caters to users with varying levels of digital proficiency.

The primary objective was to develop a platform that addresses these challenges, enabling home-based cooks to efficiently manage their businesses and reach a broader customer base.

The solution

At Echo Wave Design, we developed MinMin as a comprehensive solution to empower home-based sellers in the informal economy. Our approach encompassed the following key strategies:

  • Integrated WhatsApp Ordering: Implemented an integrated WhatsApp system for order placements, allowing customers to place orders directly through WhatsApp for ease and convenience.
  • Direct Payment on Delivery: Facilitated cash-on-delivery payments, enabling customers to pay directly when they receive their orders, thereby simplifying the payment process.
  • Trust Building Features: Incorporated features such as user ratings, reviews, and secure payment gateways to enhance trust and credibility among users.
  • Responsive Design: Ensured the platform is fully responsive, providing a seamless experience across all devices, including smartphones and tablets.
